Synopsis
Each album tells the story of a different investigation led by Inspector Canardo. The setting of each story varies, but the overall universe remains the same.
In a rather dark and sarcastic tone, Canardo exposes the horrors and misdeeds of others. Each case thus becomes a mirror of humanity, its flaws, and society as a whole.
Throughout his investigations, this private investigator, always a little weary, wades through a quagmire of political corruption, industrial shady dealings, and crimes of passion. The monsters he encounters are not fantastical creatures, but very ordinary people.
Canardo, for his part, navigates it all with his alcoholic fatalism and a shaky sense of loyalty. He is not a hero; he is simply the one who observes, takes notes, deduces… and sometimes saves lives, almost by accident.

What we thought of it :
‘I discovered Canardo while doing research for a project, and I was immediately hooked. I really like the concept of having a complete investigation in each volume, especially since I don’t like finishing a book and having to wait for the next one to find out how it ends. I haven’t been able to read them all yet, even though I’d love to. What I appreciate is that each story reflects an aspect of real life, sometimes in a rather sad way, but that also shows just how talented an artist Benoît Sokal was.’
