Atelier 510TTC: A Bastion of Comics in Reims and Beyond

Founded in 1993 (for 510 francs including tax in rent, hence its name), Atelier510TTC was created by a trio:

Sylvain Savoia, Jean-David Morvan, and Philippe Buchet.

Since then, this collective of authors, illustrators, colorists, and scriptwriters has established itself as a pillar of the comics scene in the Reims region, with an influence that extends far beyond.

The Atelier is not simply a place for individual work:

it is first and foremost a collaborative space, where the exchange of ideas, mutual support, and creative inspiration flourish.

A fertile ground for collective or individual projects, some of them quite ambitious.

A diversity of activities: creation, exhibition, and transmission

The main activity of Atelier 510 TTC is, of course, the creation and publication of comics, whether collaborative, resulting from internal or external collaborations, or individual works.

The workshop also offers internships for aspiring illustrators and colorists.

It also organizes comics/manga workshops for young people aged 12 to 17.
This is an organization that doesn’t remain isolated, but interacts with its local community, collaborates with the municipality and other organizations, and whose objective is to promote comics to a diverse audience.

A strong collective identity: committed, recognized and diverse authors

One of Atelier 510TTC’s greatest strengths is its diverse group of artists: illustrators, colorists, writers, and more. Some have achieved national or even international renown, while others are emerging talents, but all share the same passion for comics.

Among the associated names are Bengal, Benoît Blary, Thomas Labourot, Christian Lerolle, and Séverine Gauthier. These artists cover an extremely wide range of styles: fantasy, historical, reportage, humor, manga, graphic novels, and more. This pluralism allows the studio to avoid becoming confined to a single genre and to constantly explore new horizons.

An essential role in promoting and democratizing comics

What distinguishes Atelier 510TTC is its commitment to the transmission and democratization of comics, not just as a finished cultural product, but as a craft.

As such, comics/manga workshops for young people, events in museums and libraries, exhibitions of original artwork, and comics/manga competitions are all initiatives that open up comics to diverse audiences, including children, teenagers, newcomers, and enthusiasts.

This not only allows for the transmission of skills, but also fosters new vocations, gives visibility to local talent, and keeps this “9th art” alive in the Reims region (and beyond).

The flagship comic book of the Atelier

Sillage is something of an emblematic comic book of the studio, particularly because it was born from a true collective effort. Its creation is based on a comprehensive collaboration, where everyone contributed their ideas, perspective, and expertise to build the universe, the characters, and the stories.

This collaborative approach has allowed the series to evolve over time and give it its full richness. Sillage is therefore also a reflection of the studio’s spirit: a shared, vibrant, and constantly evolving project.
