Behind the pseudonym Scie Tronc hides Yen Richard, an author and illustrator based in Reims.
He belongs to a generation of artists who know how to combine graphic power with a strong narrative sense, giving comics a rare intensity.
A member of The Tribe, the studio founded by Jean-David Morvan, Scie Tronc works alongside other authors and illustrators to develop ambitious and original projects.
Scie Tronc began his career collaborating on ambitious projects blending crime fiction, historical narrative, and true events.
He doesn’t shy away from tackling sensitive subjects or controversial figures, without ever resorting to caricature.
In 2020, he illustrated Ted Bundy: Lady Killer, based on a script by Jean-David Morvan.
The chilling and immersive graphic novel revisits the trajectory of the infamous American serial killer while exploring the media’s fascination with crime.
His realistic and dynamic style perfectly complements the story’s atmosphere.
The following year, he published The Dead Monk, The Condemned Manuscript, a more mystical and gothic work where he can fully express the power of his drawing in atmospheres of light and shadow.
More recently, he illustrated Magnum Generation(s), a documentary series about the photographers of the Magnum agency, again in collaboration with Morvan. The project, praised for its visual richness and narrative precision, allows him to combine his love of drawing with a taste for realism.
And in 2025, he tackles another myth: O.K. Corral, a western drawn with the same intensity as a Sergio Leone film.
Young but already a fixture in the contemporary comics scene, Scie Tronc has established himself as an artist with a strong personality.
He navigates between documentary and fiction, blending sincerity with a powerful style, and continues to surprise with each new project.
