Thomas Labourot is a French author and illustrator from Reims. Since his debut, he has established himself as a versatile artist, capable of navigating between fantasy, children’s comics, humor, and adventure.
His career is marked by great adaptability and a taste for diverse graphic styles.
Born in Reims in 1977, Thomas Labourot initially studied theater and then fine arts, an unconventional path for a future comic book author. He quickly gravitated towards drawing and illustration.
His early work was related to role-playing games, which allowed him to become familiar with creating worlds and characters while experimenting with various drawing techniques.
It was his meeting with screenwriter Jean-David Morvan that opened the doors to the professional world of comics. Thomas then joined the Reims-based collective Atelier 510 TTC and took over the Troll series, which had been abandoned by its original authors, marking his first major professional project.
Thomas Labourot stands out for the variety of his projects.
He is reviving the heroic fantasy series Troll, showcasing his mastery of drawing and background design.
With Les Geeks, he humorously explores the daily lives of young video game enthusiasts and geek culture aficionados in the early 2000s.
He also works on children’s and fantasy picture books such as Noodles!, Team Galaxy, and Washita, creating accessible and engaging imaginary worlds. More recently, he has produced illustrations and literary adaptations, such as the graphic novel The Call of the Wild.
